Positive TB test or bruise?

Maybe some of you can help me out, because I think I may just be scaring myself.
I had to get the TB test done for a second time with no instruction on what to watch for in a positive result.
The first time, the bump went away with no problem.
This time, the nurse couldn't push the needle into my arm for some reason, and I think it bruised the spot. But the bump went away instantly, and the mark in the picture below showed up in it's place.
I turned to Dr. Google against my better judgement, and all the pictures of positive tests look like my injection site does now.
So what do you ladies think? Bruise or a positive test?
I go in tomorrow to get it checked, I'm just going insane here.

  • I have had hundreds of those damn tests, and mine looks like that every time. I wouldn't worry. Besides, TB is incredibly rare, and unless you know for sure you have been exposed, I wouldn't worry. Definately should make sure you go to final check though.

  • I always thought it was positive if there was still a bump lmao I have no idea I'm not a doctor xD don't stress chances are you are fine and it's just bruised from the nurse or something
  • Generally positive tests get more raised, and red almost like an allergic reaction. The bruise is most likely from the needle itself.

  • Nurse here. Is it raised and hard? It looks flat to me. If it's flat, you're fine.
  • We measure positive tests by induration, if it's positive it will have a noticeable raised border, especially if you rub your finger over it. Redness and bruising do not mean a test is positive at all! I can't tell just by that picture, but how long has it been since you got it done? Results are read between 48-72 hrs.
  • It all depends it's about the induration of the test redness means nothing 10mm induration is a positive test but does not mean you have TB. If it is positive a chest x ray is the next step. I wouldn't worry
  • i always bruised. if it's not swollen (raised bump) it's not positive.

  • looks normal! that happened to me last time bc the dr was not too smooth.. it would be raised if it was positive

  • Mine always comes out positive I have had several they told me that means I could have been exposed but don't have it
  • Thank you guys! I don't know what got into me, I just panicked a bit because I've never had it react like that and usually I bruise purple, not red. You're right, though, it probably was the nurse that bruised me because she just would NOT push on the needle hard enough to inject it.
