About Fiddle Leaf Fig
The fiddle leaf fig is a tree from Central and West Africa. The species name, lyrata, refers to the leaves’ shape of a lyre, a small string instrument played in Ancient Greece. The plant has a uniquely and mutually beneficial relationship with specific kinds of wasps. In fact, every plant in the Ficus genus has a unique wasp species which will lay its eggs in the fruits of only its favorite species! 🐝

How to fertilize Fiddle Leaf Fig
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Fiddle Leaf Fig after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

Does anyone know what these spots are? #FiddleLeafFig Just repotted the plant with mollys aroid mix and mixed in some earthworm castings, peat moss and potting soil a week or so ago and this started appearing. I also started using a new fertilizer that’s supposed to strengthen its roots, possibly I used too much. It’s Called Mycorrhizal Fungi, any info helps!!

Propagating Fiddle Leaf Fig? I’m fairly experienced with gardening and most propagation techniques, but less so with houseplants. My #FiddleLeafFig tree is doing fine, just moved outside for the summer, but it had a branch growing off the bottom of its trunk (it looked like the growth you sometimes get off grafted rootstock although this isn’t grafted). I cut that off and out of curiosity, I put it in water. Will it root that way? (Side note: it’s been in the water for about 2 weeks and I’ve not seen any roots.)

At what point do pots go from inches to quarts and gallons? I recently purchased transparent nursery pots from Amazon. I’m always wondering about their roots, when to repot, root rot, etc. so I bought transparent ones to help answer those questions. But I bought a pack of 4/5/6 inch pots. And am coming to realize I also need 8” pots and larger. Especially as my fiddle leaf surprised me with a root popping out of the bottom. And has finally started growing and pushed out 5 or 6 leaves in the last two months. However, I’m having the darndest time finding transparent pots 8” or larger on Amazon. (Except in packs that are 4/5/6/7/8…) Is there a different term I should be searching with? When do they switch to quarts or gallon measurements? How large is a 6 or 8” pot compared to a gallon pot? #PlantPots #nurserypots #plantnewbie #GregGang #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #FiddleLeafFig #NewGrowth

Is this pot lined with...stucco?? 🤔 Happy Friday everyone! As you can see from my first pic, the time has come to repot my fiddle fig 😛 The new pot I've picked out has this stucco-type material on the inside that I've never seen before. Does anyone know what it is? Just want to make sure it's safe for my fiddle fig and won't damage the roots or anything. Thanks #GregGang #FiddleLeafFig #HappyPlants #RepotSeason

So my mom gave me Harry to try to improve his current situation..😂 Anyways, this guy has done little to nothing since I’ve taken over the care, UNTIL I added some enrich powder last weekend. NOW look at him! 2 new babies! Also, if anyone has any insight regarding this bulb I found sitting at the top of the soil - feel free to share 😂🫶🏻 #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #PlantTherapy #GregGang #GregFeedback #Greggers

What am I doing wrong? I have an easy plant pot for my fiddle leaf plant but it seems like the bottom leaves droop and the top ones grow well and spring up. I have it next to the window which gets decent sunlight but wondering what I’m doing wrong. Also the edges of the leaves brown quickly. I have learned this is not a low maintenance plant to care for as a beginner.

my fiddle leaf is growing new leaves but they come out with a bunch of tiny red dots and then break off super easily. the plant is right in front of a window and gets good light, so what’s going on? am i not giving her enough water? #FiddleLeafFig

What other plant parents say
I purchased my Fiddleleaf fig because I read that it cleans the air adds oxygen Also can remove some bad chemicals from its environment and very beautiful. I would recommend that anybody that purchase one feed it organic fiddle leaf plant food according to the directions, made all the difference in growth and leaf quality.
I’ve heard so many horror stories about these but mine has, despite my better efforts, continued to thrive. I mean, it got *forgotten* in the back yard all summer while I was overwhelmed with moving & some renovating. Happy as a clam. Yes, it’s dropped some leaves over the years. Yes, it was once MUCH more lush and is still recovering from near-death a year and a half ago. But it’s still here!
