Abstract
A considerable amount of cutaneous genitoanal conditions are unrelated to sexually transmitted infections.
Dermatoses are equally seen at genitoanal sites of both genders.
A wide number of differential diagnoses exist. History taking, physical examination together with simple tests as takings swabs, urine and serum are necessary to exclude a sexually transmitted infection.
Taking a biopsy is one of the most useful procedures to diagnose correctly.
Immunofluorescence staining is particularly helpful to differentiate autoimmune disorders such as bullous dermatoses and others.
Organization of the chapter is done by 8 subchapters:
Normal variations of the genitoanal skin
Infectious diseases
Bullous diseases
Genetic disorders
Genitoanal manifestations of systemic disease
Inflammatory dermatoses
Genitoanal tumors
Genitoanal pain
At the beginning of each subchapter there is a list of relevant differential diagnoses.
