When we talk about iconic songs, the one song that we cannot get over is 'Chahe Koi Mujhe Junglee Kahe' by Mohammed Rafi from the movie ‘Junglee’. After all, Mohammed Rafi Saab and Shammi Kapoor. Right when the song starts from ‘Yahoo’ till the end. But did you know that the word ‘Yahoo’ was not sung by Mohammed Rafi or by Shammi Kapoor. Here is what we know.

It was quite recent when Amitabh Bachchan revealed about the song 'Chahe Koi Mujhe Junglee Kahe'. He was on the hotseat of 'Kaun Banega Crorepati 15' as the host of the game when he went into talking about it. Amitabh Bachchan welcomed Dilip Mohan Shimpi from Maharashtra's Nandurbar to the hot seat. For Rs 10,000, the contestant was asked an audio question: "What is the first word of this song by Mohammed Rafi?" The song played was "Chahe Koi Mujhe Junglee Kahe".

He then went on to talk about it and said, “This song is from the film 'Junglee'. The film stars Shammi Kapoor and Saira Banu in lead roles. The music composers were Shankar-Jaikishan and Shailendra was the lyricist. The 'yahoo' you hear in the song was not sung by Rafi. I mean, the song was sung by him, but when the song was recorded, 'yahoo' was sung by Prayag Raj. Prayag Raj is a writer. He has written for many of my films and he performed many vocalisations too. Even in the film 'Coolie', the man shouting 'Allah Rakha' the name of my pet eagle, was by Prayag Raj."

‘Junglee’ is a 1961 Indian comedy film produced and directed by Subodh Mukherjee. The music is composed by Shankar-Jaikishan and the lyrics by Shailendra and Hasrat Jaipuri. The film stars Shammi Kapoor, Saira Banu (in her debut film) in lead roles, along with Shashikala, Anoop Kumar, Lalita Pawar in supporting roles. Saira Banu earned a Filmfare nomination as Best Actress. The movie was a lighthearted musical. Box Office India calls the film a "super-hit" with a net earning of ₹ 1,75,00,000. The song "Chahe Koi Mujhe Junglee Kahe" was choreographed by P.L. Raj. The film had a silver jubilee run in Bangalore and the erstwhile Mysore state. The film was remade into Telugu as Sarada Ramudu (1980), starring N.T. Rama Rao and Jayasudha.
