I expected more from the book. While it is written in a very informal, day-to-day language, it gets difficult to understand what the writer means to say. This maybe because the book is unstructured. It keeps going back and forth which confuses the reader about the timeline and the specific occurrences.

The best part about the book is the play and articles of Anwar Maqsood included at the end. The play, Daur e junoon, was shown on Pakistan Television during the 80s. It is an extremely well written play that is as relevant now as it was back in 1983. This play is what redeemed the book in my eyes. Reading it had the same impact that watching it on TV had.

All in all, the biography itself has very little to recommend, but everyone who is a fan of Anwar Maqsood will want to read it at least once, just to know a little bit more about this living legend of our times.

Uljhay suljhay anwar is a biography of famous and mysterious personality Anwar Maqsood which is written by her wife Imrana Maqsood. It is very difficult to write down a biography of a person who is living and have command over things.
She always asked her 'artist's wife' but she's not behind from him. It's clearly implicit from her writing technique. She wrote whold book in a beautiful way. Sometimes it feel alike that she is talking to reader and while at other hand she get informal too. Which made her writing more beautiful.
She haven't miss any aspect of life if Anwar and his family. She also share beautiful relationship of husband and wife among both. How beautifully both took their relationship from love marriage to till today.
Imrana share different aspects of her life in first part of book from childhood to wedding, his sisters, childern, servents, jobs, tours, renting out homes till buying own homes.
In the second part of book eassys of Anwar Maqsood shared which were humorous and also share about her sisters and husband's of sisters. His serious melodious drama has been shared by Imrana Maqsood. One chapter is dedicated to Moeen Akhtar and he was one friend of Anwar who always understand Anwar and after his death it was consider that life of Anwar will stop when he died.
In last part of book interviews and dialogs between famous poets has been shared. The poets who has been died years and centuries ago. This part was too good and humorous. He talked with Jaun, Mir, Iqbal, Ghalib and others.
Anwar Maqsood is a person who has command over language of urdu, he has colloquial style and remained mysterious and serious.
Uljhay Suljhay Anwar is a book recommended for people from all walk of life also from all backgrounds.

A book that confirms what we or at least I know and come to expect from Sir Anwar Maqsood- a genius in the family of geniuses and a gem of a human being (a new discovery for me).

Moreover it’s a strong and timely reminder that stardom and down to earth is still a possible and pragmatic contribution.
