FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — The University of Hawai'i diving teams completed the opening events of the NCAA Zone E Championships on Monday at the Northern Arizona University Aquatic and Tennis Complex in Flagstaff, Ariz.
 
UH senior Juan Gonzalez placed 19^th in the preliminaries of the men's 3-meter competition with a total score of 298.40 to finish one spot out of advancing to the finals. Fellow senior Mackaby Pennington came in 21^st with a score of 293.80.
 
Isabella Plantz came in 29^th in the women's 1-meter preliminary round with a score of 239.25 and Isabelle Lombardi placed 38^th with a score of 225.85.
 
The qualifying meet for the NCAA Championships continues Tuesday with the women's 3-meter and men's platform competitions. Plantz and Lombardi are entered in the women's 3 meter and Gonzalez and Pennington will compete in the men's platform.
