Vacuoles help in cell growth by absorbing water, exerting turgor pressure on the cell wall and causing the cells to elongate.

Vacuoles provide an aqueous medium for storage of water soluble substances like sugar, minerals and pigments.

Vacuoles serve as waste deposit bins for unwanted materials like toxins.
