Nicole Richie
The mistress of Marcel waves, Nicole looks like a 20s flapper girl – all she needs now is a beaded dress and a cigarillo! Using gel on damp hair to secure her curls into place, this is definitely a style that needs practice but we think the payoff is totally worth it – smokin'!

Kelly Osbourne
With a hint of 50s to it, Kelly's side roll is ultra glam. Try recreating it by pinning back the sides and then wrapping the remainder of your hair around a can of hairspray when it's still warm from the dryer. Use another can of super strong hairspray to set it into place and then slowly slide the first one out of the end. Ta-dah – you should end up with hair a la Kelly!

Cher Lloyd
It looks like the X Factor finalist with swagger jagger has been inspired by the 80s with her polka-dot jumpsuit and quiffed side ponytail. A more stylised version of the classic eighties look, do as Cher's done and secure your pony at the back rather than the side, then simply pull all of your hair forward and drape it over your shoulder for best effect!

Paloma Faith
Another celeb who channels a bygone barnet is Paloma. Giving a traditional victory roll a contemporary twist, to recreate the look, use a tong to start the roll in the end of your hair and then wind it up using your fingers before pinning into place. Pile the rest of your hair on top of your head in curls then finish with a printed scarf to complete the look. Apron and rolling pin optional!
